Eucharistic Adoration in Ederney
Weekly Eucharistic Adoration began in Ederney in 2014 in the newly renovated St Joseph’s Church. With the approval of their Parish Priest, Father Frank McManus, the parish committee organized a group of volunteers to attend Adoration in the parish each Thursday. This day was chosen to celebrate the institution of the Holy Eucharist, during the Our Lord’s Last Supper.
During the winter months, Eucharistic Adoration is held in the parish centre, located just to the right of St Joseph’s Church. Many other parishes have adopted a similar approach, whereby as opposed to heating a large church for one day each week, a smaller room which is more economical to heat is used to facilitate Eucharistic Adoration in the parish.
Ederney Adoration Days and times
Eucharistic Adoration takes place in St Joseph’s Church (summertime) and in the parish centre (wintertime) every Thursday from 10.30am to 2.30pm and from 5.30pm to 9.30pm. In order to have a constant vigil of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament a minimum of four people are assigned to each of these hours. Everyone is welcome to attend.
- Thursday: 10.30am – 2.30pm
- Thursday: 5.30pm – 9.30pm
This is a personal invitation from Jesus, to spend just one hour each week with Him in Eucharistic Adoration. In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus reminds us of this call when He tells His disciples “Could you not keep watch for one hour with me” (Matthew 26:40). God gives each of us 168 hours each week and all He asks for is one hour in return.
Eucharistic Adoration in Montiagh
As well as having Eucharistic Adoration each Thursday in Ederney, Adoration is also held in St Patrick’s Church in Montiagh every Monday evening. This small rural Church is located 6 miles north of Ederney, near the “three points” where counties Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Donegal meet. The Church itself has a fascinating history and is much loved and is very well attended.
Like Ederney, adoration first began here back in 2014 and took place each Tuesday for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. However, since then many of its participants have since passed on and now a new generation of adorers come together each week to attend Adoration and keep this great and very proud tradition alive in their community.
Montaigh Adoration Days and times
Eucharistic Adoration takes place in St Patrick’s Church, Montiagh each Monday for one hour. This hour was specially selected to facilitate working families and those with other daytime commitments. In order to have a constant vigil of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament a minimum of four people are assigned to this hour. Everyone is welcome to attend.
- Monday: 7.30pm – 8.30pm
During your hour you can sit peacefully, read, rest, or pray – each person can spend their hour as they wish. The most important thing is to be with Jesus, who is truly present, body, blood, soul, and divinity. Just as we can’t be exposed to the sun without feeling the effect of its rays, nor can we be exposed to Jesus during adoration without feeling the effects of His grace.
Eucharistic Adoration in Culmaine Parish
Viable weekly Eucharistic Adoration was introduced to Culmaine by the Clogher Diocese Adoration Committee in December 2017 with over 83 parishioners committing to spend one Holy Hour each week. And in May 2023 with the blessing of their Parish Priest, Father Frank McManus, Adoration was renewed and relaunched in the parish with 46 people now attending.
A special word of thanks goes out to both John Calgie and Jean Brosnan who look after each Adoration Centre in Clumaine. And indeed, to all of those like Mena Hegarty, who kept Adoration going in St Patrick’s Church since its introduction nearly 10 years ago.
