Botha Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration was introduced to the parish of Botha in October 2016. At the request of Father Jimmy McPhillips, the Clogher Diocese Adoration Committee introduced viable weekly Eucharistic Adoration to the parish. A total of 93 parishioners committed to spend a Holy Hour each Monday from 10am to 9pm in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Monea.

Since the pandemic in 2020 Adoration was discontinued but was relaunched in June 2023 at the request of their current Parish Priest, Father Cathal Deery. Eucharistic Adoration now takes place in the newly renovated St Patrick’s Church in Derrygonnelly with 35 registered adorers committing to spend one hour each week in Adoration from 10am to 7pm each Tuesday.

Parishioners from the parishes’ two outlying Churches, the Sacred Heart Church in Boho and the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Monea are well-represented for weekly Adoration in Derrygonnelly. And because of its location, Adoration in St Patrick’s also has a lot of people who live in the town, calling in for a short visit, which is always welcomed and appreciated.

Located only a short walking distance from the center of Derrygoneelly, St Patrick’s Church is a central location for the majority of its parishioners, which is why it was chosen to hold weekly Adoration. Botha Adoration Days and times:

Eucharistic Adoration takes place in St Patrick’s Church, Derrygonnelly each Tuesday from 10am to 7pm. In order to have a constant vigil of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament a minimum of four people are assigned to each hour. Only in this way are we able to make sure that Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is never left unattended. Everyone is welcome to attend.

  • Tuesday: 10am – 7pm

This is a personal invitation from Jesus, to spend just one hour each week with Him in Eucharistic Adoration. In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus reminds us of this call when He tells His disciples “Could you not keep watch for one hour with me” (Matthew 26:40).
